For a client in Bavaria we have upgraded a 11 year old Midget10 combo (flightware style) to an up-to-date Hevos combo with the 400C amplifier and lightweight 10” loudspeaker. The cabinet was still as new!

For many bass players their instrument is the most vital part of their appearance, and rightly so. But since many bass players need some kind of electronic amplification to do the job it’s obvious that the quality of that amplification does matter. Ergo: a good bass and moderate amplification make a moderate sound.
As it happens, the amplifier got most of the attention, and the loudspeaker is a matter of minor importance. So let’s see if that is self-evident. Well…. It’s not. In the end, it is the loudspeaker that makes the transition from an electric signal to moving air (= what you hear). But pity about the loudspeaker, the amp is much more attractive because of its knobs and connectors and leds. So let’s turn to the loudspeaker. Continue reading

Made of lightweight poplar plywood, strong tolex coating on the outside and damping material on the inside. Holes for the famous 12 “/ 400W / 8 Ohm loudspeaker and the dynamic tweeter. At the bottom there is a rectangular wooden reflex port which forms an integral part of the housing. At the back there is an air-tight compartment for the 400C amplifier that is mounted in a black steel frame. The 400C is a high-end bass amp of 400W / 4 ohms with a class D power amp and an extremely stable switching power supply. The amplifier is completely noise free and equipped with all necessary connections. Weight 14 kg.
