The 2×6 is Hevos smallest combo, but in spite of that it offers an astonishing bass reproduction.
The sound is great, it is unbelievable that 6” loudspeakers can reproduce bass sound so well. The combo is powered by the 400C combo amplifier. The combo amp has a continuous output of 400 Watts. The amp has 2 separated inputs. Additionally, the pre amp has a mute out to tune the bass inaudible, a phase switch for double bass, a -6 dB switch and a 4 band active tone control with a range of +/- 12 dB. The 400C is provided with all kinds of protection devices, such as a switch-on delay, clip indication, protection against short circuit of the loudspeaker output. At the backside of the amp there is an output for a headphone, a mute out and a symmetrical line out with pre/post switch. An extra Speakon loudspeaker output completes the 400C.
The power amp of the 400C is a class-D type with UcD technics and has a switched power supply. The amplifier delivers its maximum power of 400 Watts at 4 Ohms, so connecting an extra loudspeaker cabinet is possible. A 2×6 loudspeaker cabinet is available, with the same dimensions as the combo.
German magazine Gitarre&Bass reviewed the 2×6 combo and extra cabinet. This is the conclusion:
“ It is simply amazing what a full detailed and rich bass sound Hevos gets out of these small 6 inch loudspeakers. But if one takes a closer look at the powerful special loudspeakers and the very solid construction of the housing, it becomes clear that it’s not magic but rather robust physics that leads to such results. All the more since the high-quality 400C combo amplifier has lots of power available. Besides the amazing combination of an extremely compact construction and a mature sound performance, an additional advantage is that the amplifier has two input channels with separate gain controls and a phase reverse switch. Therefore, this smallest Hevos combo is not only also suitable for musical education but for acoustic instruments with more than one pickup as well. The price will give many scrimpy bassists the willies, but one simply cannot get extraordinary performance at the highest level for free. ”
